Tray call alerts
When a new call is detected, PhoneTray displays tray call alert in the bottom-right corner of the screen:
Tray alert displays caller's name and number, date/time of the call and the line that received the call. PhoneTray doesn't display the line that received the call if you have only one phone line.
Quick zap
You can click the Zap button to immediately zap (block) the call. The caller will hear a zap message and the call will be disconnected.
Tip:
When manually zapping a call by clicking the Zap button on the tray call alert, the caller's number will not be added to your black list automatically. If you want to block all future calls from this number, hold the Ctrl key while clicking the Zap
button. PhoneTray will zap this call and add the caller's number to your black list automatically.
Tip:
When manually zapping a call by clicking the Zap button on the tray call alert, PhoneTray is using the default zap message for the numbers on your black list. To change the default zap message, go to the Privacy - Call Blocking screen and change the zap message for the numbers on your black list:
Online lookup
Click the Online Lookup button to find more information about the caller on the PhoneTray website. PhoneTray will open your default web browser and show a page with more information about the number. You can leave your comments on the PhoneTray website to let other users know who the caller is.
Open contact
The Open Contact button is displayed only for the calls from your contacts. Click the Open Contact
button to show and / or edit contact information.
You can pin tray alert by clicking the Pin button in the upper right corner of tray alert. Pinned alerts stay on your screen until closed by clicking the Close
button. When you pin a tray alert, the Pin button changes to the Unpin
button. You can unpin a tray alert by clicking the Unpin
button.
To close a tray alert, simply click the Close button in the upper-right corner of the tray alert.
Search for all calls from that caller
You can click on the caller's number to search for all calls from that caller:
PhoneTray will open the Calls screen showing all incoming and outgoing calls from that caller with the caller's number highlighted. If it was a call from one of your contacts, PhoneTray will display all calls from that contact with the contact's name highlighted regardless of the number that contact called from:
Tray call alerts settings
To adjust the tray call alert settings, go to the Settings - Tray Alerts screen. You can also disable tray alerts completely on that screen.
Tip:
By default PhoneTray doesn't show tray call alerts for blocked calls. You can enable alerts for blocked calls on the Settings - Tray Alerts screen.
Full screen call alerts
When a new call is detected, PhoneTray also displays a full screen call alert showing incoming call information using large font so you can see it from a distance:
Full screen alert displays the caller's name, number and the line that received the call. PhoneTray doesn't display the line that received the call if you have only one phone line.
Full screen alert will be dismissed automatically after the timeout specified on the Settings - Full Screen Alerts screen. You can also click on the full screen alert to dismiss it immediately.
Full screen alert settings
To adjust the full screen alert settings, go to the Settings - Full Screen Alerts screen. You can disable full screen alerts completely, adjust the size of full screen alerts, the alerts' position on the screen, the text color, the background color and the transparency.
Tip:
By default PhoneTray doesn't show full screen call alerts for blocked calls. You can enable alerts for blocked calls on the Settings - Full Screen Alerts screen.
Ringtones and speech announcements
When a call comes in, PhoneTray rings through your computer speakers and announces the call using Text-To-Speech. To change the Ringtones and Speech announcement settings, go to the Settings - Ringtones screen and the Settings - Speech screen.
Tip:
You can set the default ringtone for calls from all your contacts on the Settings - Ringtones screen. You can also assign a custom ringtone for calls from any of your contacts on the Edit Contact form for that contact.
You can set PhoneTray to announce only name, only number or both name and number on each call. You can also set the speech volume, the speech speed and the number of times the announcement is repeated on the Settings - Speech screen.
New calls indicator
When you have new call(s), the tray icon changes its color from blue to green
. You can hover your mouse over the icon to see how many new calls you have:
PhoneTray also displays the number of new calls in the main window title:
Any calls received since the last time you opened the Calls screen are considered to be new calls. To set the number of new calls to zero, click on the PhoneTray icon to bring up the PhoneTray window and go to the Calls screen.
